Installed and Tested to the Standard
All our emergency lighting work is carried out to AS/NZS 2293 — Part 1 for system design and installation, Part 2 for inspection and maintenance, and Part 3 for the luminaires and signs themselves. General electrical work is completed in accordance with AS/NZS 3000, the Australian Wiring Rules.
Placement isn’t arbitrary. Exit signs need to be visible from anywhere in the space they serve, which means respecting the viewing distance limits for the sign size you’re using, and adding directional signage wherever the path of travel isn’t obvious. Emergency lights need to cover exit paths, stairwells, change in level, and any area where people could be caught in the dark. We’ll walk your building and map it out properly rather than guessing off a floor plan.
We use quality Australian-market gear — Clevertronics, Stanilite, Legrand and SAL — because a $30 saving on a fitting isn’t worth a failed inspection.
Six-Monthly Testing, Done and Documented
Your emergency lighting has to be discharge tested every six months. That means running the system on battery alone for a full 90 minutes and confirming every fitting stays lit for the duration. Anything that fails gets flagged, repaired or replaced.
We handle the testing, the repairs and the record keeping. You get a completed logbook and a written report listing every fitting, its location, its result and any remedial work carried out — the documentation your fire safety practitioner will ask for at Annual Fire Safety Statement time.
If you’re managing multiple sites or a large building, we can also install self-testing or monitored systems that run the tests automatically and report faults back to a central panel, which cuts your ongoing maintenance cost considerably.
